I seldom try to get any information there. I do try to fight the appaling ignorance and bias inthe dog section. Unfortunately it is dominated by rich little snobs that know nothing about dogs. Throw in older people posting the same old wives tales I was taught in the 50’s. I think much of the advice on dog food there comes from food kooks that have bought into marketing hype. Very little sign of evidence based decision making. I dabbled in home and garden too. Somebody’s dog drier was tripping their 15 amp circuit breaker. Best answer chosen by asker was replace it with a 20 amp one. I have very seldom gotten an answer on any site from somebody that knew more about than I did. ---

I used to hang out in the dog section a lot, got to know some of the regulars and tried to help people that had questions about dogs. I ended up getting too frustrated by the ‘I wanna breed my yorkiecockalabdoodledoxie to the neighbor’s papashisweimboxapso, what color will the puppies be and how much should I sell them for?’ and the ‘my dog Rufus was run over by a bus and he is bleeding from every body opening and can’t move his legs, I can’t afford a vet, how can I help him at home???’. I pop in every once in a while and answer a few questions, but most of the regulars have moved on and it’s just overrun by the stupid now. ---

Not to get answers, but to give them. Usually in the relationship area. It’s also a good place to do research – not by asking a question, but by reading the questions. Some tell some fascinating stories. ---
