Diet Pepsi. Maybe I’ve just been ruined by the internet. The bartender at a place I’ll have lunch every few weeks asks me that question, worded like that. She seems to be oblivious to my first interpretation of the question. Would you recommend she ask this question differently? ---

I think of Displaced Person when I hear DP, but I doubt anyone younger would. I would never have thought of diet Pepsi, so only for clarification she might want to elaborate. ---

She could just say “Do you want a cup o’ nasty?”. I would understand that immediately to mean Pepsi products. ---

I thought exactly what you did when I saw the acronym, but even if I knew she was talking about a drink I would think she meant Dr. Pepper. What a strange way to say Diet Pepsi. ---
