I must one of 5 people on this planet who want a cell phone to be just an ogdamned phone. No iPhones, no Blackberries, no frakking cameras. Just a phone. :mad: ---

I would think that it would be too much to ask for to have cell phone reception right at my very own house and not have a freakin’ dead zone within the 5 -7 mile area. I would volunteer to have a cell phone tower-tree right smack dab in my front lawn if it meant I couldn’t actually use my cell phone in my house. It is a shocking thought indeed. then I could get rid of my land line. ---

When he’s over here bonding in the garage, I can always tell when work calls him because he’s darting around the yard looking for the “sweet spot.” ---

The iPhone, especially for the first couple of weeks after the launch, is a status symbol, diamond-encrusted or not. People don’t NEED an iPhone. People don’t NEED a BlackBerry. People really don’t NEED a cell phone. Remember life without them? It was still livable. Now, I certainly do like having my phone. I’ve got a pretty small plan and pay to have the toys on it, because I like the luxury of having maps (I hate getting lost and calling someone to get me out) and having the Internet handy is also much fun (What’s the number of that chicken joint down the street? What are they charging these days? Oh, they’ve got a website! I can just call and place the order.) Again, nope. Everyone won’t get an iPhone. I’m not switching to AT&T, I’m already very happy with my phone, I’ve never had an iPod and have no use for one, and I’m also rather “meh” about being able to play videos, and wouldn’t like fingerprints all over the screen. The price will drop eventually and the next generation of Apple phone will come out. I’d say that Apple is more of the competitor to BlackBerry than anyone’s waiting for the competitor to the iPhone. Outside of playing video, it doesn’t do anything more than my phone already does. ---

You know, if I had to pay close to 50 bucks a month for the Internet and such on my phone, I don’t think I’d have it. Am I the only one in the world that pays 20? This is hitting my tiny brain now after I read reviews and see that people pay twice what I do for their smartphone stuff. ---

Nope. I’m happy with my cheapo Virgin plan. I finally went cellular after yanking the AT&T land line for persistent static. And its distressing habit of calling 911. (Even if you’re not “up” to something, 3 cop cars arriving at 3 AM is no fun.) Don’t even have a laptop–desktop PC’s at work & home are enough for me. I read actual books while commuting (by bus & rail.) And I listen to my music the old-fashioned way. On CD! Plus a few hundred old LP’s. (Let’s ignore the occasional attempt at “music” using actual an acoustic guitar & banjo.) **However** –I’m glad for the Early Adaptors. They are expending time & money to develop & debug the technology I will eventually enjoy. Have fun with your new toys! ---

Nope. I have no desire to get one. I am happy with my cell phone. I’m happy with my (non-iPod) mp3 player. I’m happy with my digital camera. I’m happy with them all being separate devices. I’m happy keeping $600 in my pocket. ---

I know, I know: you probably don’t use either Sprint or T-Mobile. But if these guys are working on it, I’m sure the other carriers are, too. There’s hope! 🙂 ---

Yeah, I didn’t get an Ipod (if it doesn’t do everything, it doesn’t do nothing). I won’t get the IPhone just yet. Anyways, it’s 30 minutes `till they let people through the doors. Don’t tell me everyone who is hyped about it is in line. Isn’t there anyone here just a little excited? What’s the local news, there? ---

I just want to play with one for a little while. I don’t want one because I don’t need one. I really try to avoid buying shit like that unless I need it. I’ll never need it. And I would hate to be so busy that I could actually justify a purchase like that. Seriously. ---
