Do You Watch Letterman or Leno?

Yeah, I think Letteman’s gotten lazy in his old age.
“Dave, we got this great idea where you put on suits made of different items then we see if you’ll float in them!”
“Screw that, just put the item in the water. I’m too lazy to get out of my chair.”

“Dave, there’s a psychic convention in town. It’d be funny if you went down there and shot some footage.”
“Screw that. Can’t you just get Biff or someone else to go? I’m too lazy to get out of my chair.”

“Dave, why don’t we go do some shows in LA, or Chicago?”
“Dammit! You know I don’t like to travel anymore! Someone call Regis and see if he can be on Friday’s show. Me and Regis equals funny.”

And usually, they are funny together.

Hmmm… Maybe they could do another Odd Couple remake. Or maybe Grumpy Old Men 3.

I just want to add that I have despised this question ever since I was asked it on a job interview (my second one after graduating from college, too). My answer then, and now: Charlie Rose. I didn’t get the job, by the way.

I want to add to the chorus of those who praise Craig Ferguson. As Exapno Mapcase pointed out, his monologues are fantastic.

IMHO, the perfect late-night show would have:

[ul]An opening monologue by Craig Ferguson[/ul]
[ul]Guests interviewed by David Letterman (Leno’s too much of a suck-up)[/ul]
[ul]Jay Leno’s filmed bits (Jaywalking, etc. are good)[/ul]
[ul]The gag bits and skits that Conan and his writers come up with[/ul]
[ul]The Max Weinberg 7 as the house band[/ul]
[ul]The video clips that Jimmy Kimmel finds (and wryly comments on)[/ul]

Armed with a remote control, I can sometimes piece together two hours that looks something like the above!
