# Do you wear socks when you sleep?

I used to when I was a kid (for some reason, my parents made me), but after age 12, or so, I never did again.
My father slept with them on every night all of his life, though…and I’ve heard of others doing this regularly too.

If you’re keeping it cold in the house, a pair of clean dry socks can help you feel a bit warmer. You may also want a hat.

Yes, always. Keeps my feets warm. I gots cold feets.
Sometimes I even wear two pairs in the winter.
I wish I could find a nice pair of warm fuzzy slippers to wear around the house.

Only if my feet are cold. Mostly they aren’t though, so usually no.

Only when I want something to keep some lotion on my feet through the night, which is in the winter when the air’s so dry.

Being underneath sheets and a big ole’ comforter all night keeps my feet warm.

When I lived in chillier climates, and at times in rather drafty quarters, I’d have a set of bedtime socks for those specially cold nights. Otherwise not.

Nope, my feet stay warm without them.
When I stayed in the hospital back in 2005 it seemed to bother some of the nurses that I was barefoot in bed. I complied with their command to put slippers on when walking around, but as soon as I sat down or got into bed the feet were bare. That was partly because the “slippers” were those hideous sock things. About one minute in them my feet would be swimming in sweat. I wish I had had flip flops or something that would have protected the feet bottoms and let the tops breathe free.
One night a nurse kept re-covering my feet every time she came by. I kept uncovering them because it was too damn warm for them under the covers. If I hadn’t felt so sick as to discourage anything other than minimal efforts hilarity would have ensued.

When it’s cold? Oh, hell yes!
I grew up in a house built in 1860 in the midwest. The upstairs (where we slept) wasn’t heated. Even with a ton of quilts on the bed, your feet, your hands and your nose would get cold in the winter.
Now, I’m just middle aged and have some circulation issues, so if it’s cool enough to wear slippers around the house, it’s cool enough to wear socks to bed.

I have to keep one bare foot outside the covers to go to sleep. I start out hot, then get cooler through the night. Having one foot out helps to regulate my temperature, and I pull it in later as I cool off. Wearing socks would be very uncomfortable.

My feet are always “overheated” and I take off my socks as soon as possible. I could never sleep with them on.

I tend to keep the bedroom frigid, so I do sometimes wear socks to bed. About half the time, I wake up with the “Argh! Bags of lava on my feet!” syndrome and ditch them.

I don’t like the sensation of wearing socks at all. I wear them if I’ve got certain types of shoes on (running shoes, certain work shoes that require some sort of socks/hosiery), but immediately take them off afterwards.
