Well, usually I’m flying (like Superman shit, no Goddamn Airplane required) or having really awesome sex with a smokin’ hottie. But every now and then my dad shows up, and his presence really puts a damper on the two previously mentioned activities. ---

After what I said above, about my past pets not appearing in my dream, my first chihuahua did show up! In the dream, I was in bed, petting my current dachshund Reese who loves to snuggle with me, and I looked down and saw that Delmy had jumped up on the bed, near my feet, like he often used to. This seemed completely natural, and I bent down to pet him, too. I could tell they were both really happy, and I was just enjoying the heck out of it. It wasn’t until I woke up that I remembered that he had died over a decade ago. ---

I find it refreshing to see my parents and my pets in my dreams. I see it as an extension of my time with them. They’re my parents and my pets who loved me and I loved them. There’s nothing to be afraid of or sad about. ---

It rarely happens that my grandmother, who died 6 years ago, appears as a character in a dream as if she were still alive. ---

The only dreams I can remember about my late parents are one in which my dad was a drag queen, and one in which my mother was a zombie and I was trying to herd her back into her grave. I’ve had frequent dreams about my dogs getting away from me (like they did irl) and me trying to find them in a constantly changing landscape. ---

The dog I spent pretty much my entire childhood with was in so many dreams that I eventually told her, “You’re dead. You shouldn’t be here.” She looked sad and left but has since returned with much less frequency. I periodically see my parents in my dreams. ---

With me it is usually only shortly after their death. It is rare that anyone I know is in my dreams. For that matter unusual for anyone to be in my dreams besides myself. ---

Last night I had a dream about a friend who died a few years ago. In the dream he was smoking pot in his living room. He didn’t smoke pot, so that part was a real wtf. ---

For the first few years after my father died, I would have dreams where his death was a part of it. He was there because the doctor made a mistake; that he didn’t really die or as someone else said, something that seemed logical within the dream. Lately, he and other dead relatives show up and there is just never a thought that they are dead. Sometimes the dead relatives are a part of new things in my life that they were never alive for, and other times we are all hanging out back in the places we used to be when they were alive. On the rare times when I realize in the dream that they are dead, that means that I am waking up and coming out of sleep. Most of the time I just thing of the dream I had and think it about par for the course. ---

I had a really nice dream about my parents last night. I was back in my old house and hadn’t seen my parents in two days. I wasn’t sure if I just missed their coming and going and was worried about them. I went to their bedroom and saw what I thought was an empty bed, but the TV was on. When I leaned over to turn it off, my Dad said “Hey, I’m watching!” and smiled. My Mom popped her head out from under the covers and smiled too. They both had looked young with black hair.
