I think a lot of it has to do with visuals, especially music. There was a time people had nothing but a radio, and so there was less discrimination. …/QUOTE]

An opinion that supports your claim about discrimination: the owner of a record label that releases a lot of historic jazz told me (when talking about a huge compilation of Nat King Cole recordings he released, so maybe has some expert knowledge) that Cole’s career faded with the rise of television.

Nat King Cole died in 1965. TV was a tiny black and white cube with poor resolution. His career faded the way many careers fade, musical tastes changed. He wasn’t a bad looking guy, and in fact hosted his own TV show, the first Black American to do so. The rise of TV coincided with the decline of Cole’s sales, but the two had nothing to do with each other.

Docs/Interviews That Emphasize Degeneracy In Arts?

I still can’t get over it… every single time I open the Dope, I see this title. You want us to search out articles for you, that encourage your preconceived conclusion?

Or were you asking for our help with an open mind? Almost every person you’ve asked has disagreed with you, and provided dozens and dozens of examples. Has that changed your mind? At all? If that was never your intent, then why ask for help? Why not just present your pre-judged conclusion and maybe just say “I believe that the Arts are more degenerate than ever”.

(It’s like seeing a thread titled Help Me Find Redditors/YouTubers Who Prove That Juvenile Delinquents Are More Perverted Than Ever!)

And yet many of us have spent hours researching music and movies of the past decades, finding articles and facts, and supplying links. WHY did we work so hard? Are you going to say “Gosh, I’ve been so closed-minded. I’m going to change my ways, and learn to accept and enjoy new music and media. And have a lot of fun! Thanks, Dope!”

Here is a recent New Order concert with a representative sprinkling of fans. God these guys rock.

The bassist just rocks so hard. I am not a bassist but he seems genius.
