Probably because ‘omg bad stuff never happens in nice neighborhoods and that’s all this town is known for anyway’ or something. ---

Pretty much. Dundee is kind of an odd neighborhood. Most of the Omaha mega-rich live in the suburbs; Dundee is a mix of old money and well-off Bohemian-types. It sports some nice houses, but it’s not what you would call “ritzy” per se; it’s kind of like a Nebraskan Greenwich Village, I guess. Linking it to Buffett is kind of like reporting a story on a murder in Montana “just a couple miles from Ted Turner’s ranch.” It immediately conveys a sense of geography that most Omaha viewers can relate to. ---

Edit window expired before I could point out that Dundee had just experienced a wave of muggings around the time of the 2008 killings. That probably made the initial investigation kind of ambiguous; I doubt that police were looking at for a guy from seven years prior with a grudge at the time. ---
