Rumors today Dormammu might be in it. Why the heck wouldn’t he be? At least a cameo. Dormammu _should_ be in any Doc Strange movie. Mordo is an annoying coworker. Who is this Kaecilius dude? I’d like to see Thanos try to suck up to Dormammu and get himself thrown across thirteen dimensions before convincing him to maybe kinda go along with his Infinity Stone plan. ---

While admittedly I’d prefer to avoid more origin stories, it’s really hard to explain Dr. Strange without one, and it’s a treatment that basically never saw he light of day before so this can introduce some new elements to the MCU. My guess is that Dormammu is the villain behind the villain. Hopefully, they will give him actual motivations. ---

This is also the first time they’re introducing actual magic (as opposed to Agardian super-tech) to the MCU. And Dr. Strange is a bit different from other heroes, in that who he is is tied very closely to what he does. You don’t need to know anything about radioactivity or spiders to understand Spider-Man, but Strange is specfically “the guy who handles magic crises,” so they’re going to have to set up what magic is and how it woris, Easiest way to explain that to the audience is to explain it to Strange.
