Casting news (companion) spoilers: [Clara is staying on!](http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/doctor-whos-jenna-coleman-not-4710238) She’s my favorite companion so I’m happy. On the other hand, it’s only for half the season so we may get some Season 7 weirdness. ---

I’m really happy to see her returning too, but with one caveat: The show is called “Doctor Who,” not “Clara and the Doctor.” I love Clara, but I hope very much that she takes a bit more of a back seat to the Doctor in the new season. He needs to drive more of the action and be more central to the show. If they do that, I’ll be a happy Whovian. ---

In response to JRagon’s spoiler: That is great news! Clara with 11 was a lot like Rose with 10, a young girl completely infatuated with the Doctor. Rose pulled it off because she had a certain toughness about her that the writers didn’t give to Clara. Without that she was pretty one dimensional. But with Capaldi the sexual innuendo is gone so she’s more like Donna was with Ten except a little more playful than sarcastic. The relationship works much better and Clara has a more well defined character as a result. Up to Clara, Donna and 10 were my favorite pairing so I think that’s why I like Capaldi and Jenna so much. I’m glad she’s sticking around for a few more episodes. ---

In response to **Frazzled** ’s boxed response to **Jragon** ’s boxed spoiler: [spoiler]I liked Rose because she was brave. I liked Donna because she wasn’t dewy-eyed-in-lurv with the Doctor. (They let Wilf take over that job.) I liked Clara just fine before the writers decided there had to be romantic/sexual tension between her and the Doctor. Clara can be tough and she can be tender. The problem, imo, is that the writers are not consistent in where she’s tough and where she’s tender.[/spoiler] ---
