Probably not. The Doctor says, “You can’t kill stone.” Surely someone would have tried that by now and, if successful, reported the results. Maybe they’re shatterproof. Maybe they reassemble. Maybe each piece becomes a new statue.

Apparently only sentient beings, simply because they’d never get anywhere otherwise.

Pathogenesis. Or the females lay eggs that the males fertilize later. Or through a hole in a sheet. Or while holding their hands over their faces.

The Doctor kicked the angels asses without even being there. I’m pretty sure they learned their lesson, and won’t try again even if they could get free.

Thus, they’re stuck eye-locked for eternity (or until someone breaks them apart).

This is what I decided after thinking about it. If they were touching, perhaps they stuck together? And who would bother separating them anyway? They’d probably get left in an empty lot somewhere and forgotten.

Parthenogenesis. Maybe pathogens are involved.

Anyway, it was a very well-acted and directed episode, but the scariness of the angels was diminished by the fact that their first “victim” is plunged into the unspeakable terror of - the bucolic English countryside, where she immediately meets up with a charming and handsome young man whom she marries and bears children. And we find out this not so horrible fate almost at the same time as we realize that she’s disappeared from this century forever. The young policeman apparently marries, has a long career in publishing, and is finally reunited with a nice young woman he met once before. The only ones who really seem inconvenienced are the Doctor and Martha, but even they don’t seem that bad off.

Oh, yeah, there was something about the Angels getting a hold of the Tardis and destroying the world or the sun or the universe or something, but that came out rather late in the show and was tossed out kind of casually.

Well, if we go by the amount of recurring foes in Doctor Who, most of his enemies aren’t exactly big on the whole ‘learning your lesson’ thing…

Indeed - I think we’re on attempt number 25 of the Darleks to take over/destroy the universe, to name but one enemy.

Yeah, they are kind of single-minded. But it’s not their fault – they were genetically bred that way. They just need a little love added to their genes.

(Gack. I can’t stand it when The Doctor starts acting like what I just said above is true.)

You win the prize, GuanoLad. I’ve been gone for, oh, almost five years or so (it was a shock to me to realize that – I would have put it at a couple-three years). I just decided to pop back and began posting a few days ago around here in Cafe Society, since TV-related stuff is where I spend most of my “free” time these days (see links in my sig, below).

My nitpicky questions about “Blink”:
F

1. ollowing the Doctor’s instructions from the easter egg, Sally & Larry manage to get inside the TARDIS, set the coordinates for 1969, and the ship takes off - thus causing the statues to form a ring, and be looking at each other. Why didn’t the TARDIS take Sally & Larry back in time with them? Why leave Sally hanging, wondering how the Doctor knew to leave her the easter eggs? He could have easily explained to her that they will meet up at a later date, but that he won’t recognize her.

2. The detective whom Sally flirts with as a 20-something guy, and then meets again that same day as a 70 year old man. He explains that upon finding himself back in the past, the first thing that happened to him was that he met the Doctor, who shortly thereafter got his TARDIS back. So, _why didn’t the Doctor give him a lift back to the 21st century_?
As somebody upthread said, this story seems ingenious & creepy as I was initially watching it. But upon further reflection, the narrative has some WIIIIIIIIIDE gaping holes in it.

Because the man got into the movie industry after he was sent back, and he spent years putting the Easter egg in the DVDs.

Am I remembering this right? Also, why are we spoiler-boxing everything?

Someone once said–perhaps here, perhaps elsewhere–that the most certain way to ensure that your species never perishes from the universe is to have it utterly destroyed in a Time War. 🙂 If only the statues had been better organized and had greater ambition, they wouldn’t have gotten into this fix!

I just have to say that this is my favorite Doctor Who episode ever. I am contemplating buying Series 3 just for this episode.

Easter eggs on DVDs. How do you even know they are there? What does one look for?
