> … His emotionally raw state made it easier for him to mistakenly interpret Clara’s mindless jokes as an attack by a stereotypical “_Guardian_ reader”, disrespecting him because he’d been a soldier.

Oh it is easy to understand _his_ behavior. He was assuming that word had gotten out about him tearing up and that he was being teased. The question is why does _she_ find _him_ appealing? And I think because she finds the odd, nay enigmatic, interesting.

I think Danny’s got some PTSD going - I’m not sure the last “why” or two he said were actually directed at Clara.

> I was reminded of the _Star Trek:TNG_ episode when Hugh the Borg showed up. In it, the plan is for the crew to send Hugh back to the Borg with a dangerous program hidden inside him that will spread like a plague. I was kind of thinking that The Doctor and friends were going to send Rusty back to the Daleks so that his plague of goodness could spread. Not that it was going to turn all the Daleks good, but it probably would be disruptive.

This episode seemed packed with _Star Trek_ references to me, and I can’t figure out why I haven’t seen more mention of it. I guess I’m the only one.

The title.
The Hugh/Rusty parallel of the plot.
“Resistance is futile.”
The Doctor basically mind-melding with Rusty.
The antibodies-fighting-off-a-“giant invader” bit (granted, kind of a stretch).

> I strong dislike the current Doctors attitude about soldiers. One of the Doctor’s closest friends was General Lethbridge-Stewart. This Doctor is insulting a lot of fine people that put their lives at risk to protect their countries. The Doctor served with Unit for years. He himself fought in the time wars.

My theory is that the Doctor’s contempt for soldiers is related to his own guilt and self-loathing over what he did during the Time War.

"…_Doctor Who_ has been pressganged into the BBC’s ‘Make it Digital’ push to help kids understand computers rather than just playing with them. Its answer: an educational video game…

Based upon the Unity engine, it works on the vast majority of platforms, with Peter Capaldi’s voice **and what would appear to be a good Dalek** who is given eight missions that involve the standard ‘run round, collect things, shoot and jump’ gameplay."(Emphasis is mine) Full article is here: [Doctor Who and the Dalek: 10-year-old tests BBC programming game • The Register](http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/10/20/dr_who_and_the_dalek_bbc_kids_coding_game_review/)
