I found the bits were it just redid the TV or radio series, but with different actors, to be less interesting than the new stuff. But I did like the new stuff. Despite being a fan since the mid 80s (I still have a VERY battered copy of [this edition:](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:H2G2_UK_front_cover.jpg)) I am not so uppity that I can’t handle a different version to what is seen as the “best”. Hence me not getting particularly uptight about the idea of a Dr Who movie. ---

I didn’t have "but it isn’t The Avengers I remember reasoning). Talking of The Avengers, did it have an interval everywhere as some kind of throwback to days gone by? I saw it in The Netherlands and they had one, the first time I’d seen an interval at the movies in about a decade. ---

I have a hard time picturing Doctor Who without continuity. It just loses a lot of the…fun. ---

As an aside, I am really enjoying Matt Smith’s Doctor. Is it just me, or does he sometimes channel Jon Pertwee just a little bit? He doesn’t resemble him physically, but he sometimes has this certain baleful/wistful/wise (but self-consciously cheery) manner about him that calls Dr. III to mind for me. (Although I started watching during Tom Baker’s run and recall IV fondly, Jon Pertwee is still _my_ Doctor.) ---
