Doctorates without degrees: when was the last one awarded?

A couple of examples from my alma mater (with my emphases):

All [PhD] applicants who have neither a first degree nor a masters degree from a UK institution must submit the results of a recent Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. The Faculty will not normally consider admitting a student whose score registers below the 90th percentile in the quantitative section and below the 50th percentile in the analytical writing section of the test. The Faculty must receive the results of the GRE General Test by the due date for complete applications (see How and When to Apply).

Wow, I’d think they’d require at least 90th percentile on all three. Maybe I should apply there.

Frank Lloyd Wright, perhaps the greatest architect of the 20th century, never got past his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin, something that always bothered him although he would never admit it. When the university later want to confer an honorary doctorate to him, he said he really preferred to get a bachelor’s degree. He even wrote and submitted an essay as his “senior thesis” in the hope that university would change its mind. Unfortunately, they didn’t, and Wright never got any degree from them.
