Transwomen who go for the complete transformation usually have vaginas constructed with penile skin. I’ve seen some MARVELOUS results. The word used is “invaginate” for the tube. There’s no cervix, and of course no uterus. From a skilled team, the result is amazing. There’s no need for the artificial, that I’ve seen, in that category. Persons born with a cloaca are another subject entirely, and reading of this makes me very hopeful for those born with this very rare disorder. I’ve seen one. She went to the world expert in Boston, and did well, but this would have made her life FAR less complicated!

You don’t need to be XX to form a vagina. CAIS women are XY yet can have vaginas (although they often are incomplete or have a limitation).
There’s several parts of SRS which are independent of how you make the vagina. You still have to do something with the penis, and maintain all the nerves and related tissue which you can in order to maintain sensation (and the possibility of orgasm). And you have to make that cavity in the body for the vagina, whether you use the penile/scrotal skin or you use a lab-grown vagina. With the lab-grown one you would get natural lubrication, however, and possibly not need to dilate (but I’m not certain of the last part.)
One friend forwarded me a bit about this. I forwarded it to another friend who has a PhD in molecular biology. He confirmed that it was legit and answered some of my questions.

Personally, I look forward to a future of vat grown organs that don’t require antirejection drugs.
I hope this is heavily regulated. If they start implanting them in guy’s hands the human race will die out.
I suspect they were able to grow one some time ago. The past few years have been mostly…testing.

As I understand it, humans HAVE near-UV photoreceptors. The UV is filtered out by the lenses of the eye. 
Other animals with like receptors also have UV-transparent lenses, and can see some UV. 
The leading theory is that we “gave it up” in order to increase visual acuity and fine detail.

My first thought on this (other than, “No way!!”) is that this could be of help to women in places like Africa where they suffer so-called female circumcision (which I view more as simply “mutilation”). 'Course, then you run into questions about whether or not women living in places like that could afford the new body part…
I can’t see how a new vagina will replace an amputated clitoris.
