Doctors not accepting new patients

I find this thread interesting. It sounds like it’s specific to certain areas, as the kind of insane wait times and selectivity are not common in my experience. Where do people say it’s worst?

Look, if you live in a very restive, slow changing suburb, your local GPs are tied up with the retirees and their children who live in the city or elsewhere who still use their old GP … and they can’t keep up with the increasing demand for checks and followups on the blood disorders and cancers, arthritis and dementia/alzteimers treatments and so on…

you’ll find one. just use a search engine for “portland oregon doctors appointments”.
The ones you found via the local list are not getting to internet appointment systems. Those with their books open are ensuring they are internet appointment systems.

About some doctors not taking “Obamacare” – probably a large hunk of the problem is that doctors can’t be sure what’s going on with it. As in, what’s covered now, what will be covered next year, will it even exist? Because most doctors genuinely care about their patients and don’t want to have to turn an existing patient away because something has changed about their insurance, and yet at the same time doctors have to be paid, and well, just to cover their practice insurance coverage, not to mention their own debts from schooling and money to actually live on.
