My boyfriend noticed the trend too and he figures its to give the guy something fun to look at while pounding away… But serious, it is VERY TRENDY to get a tat on the small of the back and the trend was started by non other than britney spears. Its so utterly fashionable its pathtic, really. ---

Uh-oh. I have a tongue stud, belly button ring AND a tat over my left hip. Now, as we’ve already established, this apparently means I enjoy giving head while getting screwed in the belly button. But I’m at a loss as to what the hip tat means. Not to mention MY earrings. FWIW, I’ve been with many a heterosexual man who had both ears pierced, stretched or otherwise altered. Does this means they’re bi or smoke pot? ---

Both ears pierced on men seems pretty common. It’s just the only right ear thing that seems to have become a commonly accepted signal of homosexuality. ---

In a snopes-style analysis, I’d guess the reason why rumors like that start is the need to take something as **“non conformist”** (note the heavy quotation marks, and see below) and link it with **“distasteful”** or “provocative” behavior. Basically another form of juvenile social culling. It’s not that far off from the “cheerleader slut gets stomach pumped for semen” or “hot dog rots in vagina” UL archetypes. (the other word I was going to use rhymed so nicely!). About the quotes: I know that way back when the right-ear left-ear debate was going on; that was when a pierced ear on a guy was an edgy, adventurous thing. Now it’s so mainstream, I’d be surprised if anyone worries about it any more - especially when you can gossip and rumor-monger about things like tongue piercing… ---

My ex got a Gaelic knotwork tattoo spanning her lower back, and I admit that I noticed that there were whorls precisely where my thumbs used to go whilst holding her butt from behind. [Sigh wistfully]. 3/4 of the girls I know who, er, dance for a living have tattoos there. One is particularly striking; it’s the hand of God from Michaelangelo’s _Creation of Adam._ Now that’s a good argument for low-rise jeans. But zero percent have a stated enthusiasm for the poopchute.
