# Does Antacid Calcium Not Work (also Calmax ?)?

After watching well skimming past an infomercial featuring that annoying Dr Pinkus on Calmax, he stated that the calcium in antacids doesn’t get absorbed as the body needs the acidity to absob it.

Now while I believe he is correct in stating that magnesium must be present for the proper absorbtion of calcium, what is the SD with this guy and his claims.

I asked my doc the same question, and she said the calcium in antacids works just fine. Tums even has little cards posted in the exam rooms with recommended dosages. Of course, this could all just be industry propaganda or something.
