Houston used to be infamous for its potholes, back in the 70s and 80s, but I suppose they’ve gotten better at pre-concrete/asphalt prep work, because there don’t really seem to be an undue number of potholes anymore.
A lot of it had to do with clay soil that expanded and contracted with seasonal variations in moisture, I think. Kind of like freeze/thaw I suppose.
