I just accidentally gave myself a needle stick with a hypodermic needle earlier on this morning. And while I was sucking on my finger I couldn’t help but think that, boy oh boy, blood is kind of tasty. So no, I’m not speaking metaphorically. It’s got this sweet sort of metallic taste to it. Like a wet penny. Which sounds like an odd description, but due to how unique it is I can’t think of another. I am not suggesting that anyone go out and order a tall glass of blood to chug down. That thought disgusts me. But I enjoy it’s flavor on a smaller scale. Imagine yourself enjoying the last bits of a [Fla-Vor-Ice freeze pop](http://www.avclub.com/content/files/images/flavor_ice_0.jpg) by trying to sucks out the last bits of melted sugar water. Yah, I’m odd, but am eager to see if anyone else agrees. And yah, I’m kidding about sticking myself with a needle this morning. I’m fine. ---

You’re not the only one. Not that I’d bite my tongue on purpose or something (ouch!)-- but when it happens, yeah, it tastes kind of sweet and not altogether unpleasant. ---

I suck most personal wounds that I can reach with my mouth. Blood (at least mine) isn’t bad at all. It is warm and has a complex flavor like a fine Chianti. ---

Blood, albeit animal blood, is an ingredient in quite a few ethnic cuisines. Chinese in Thailand will eat congealed pig blood. I avoid the stuff myself. ---

I like it. I’ve sucked on my own small cuts or punctures, but never anyone else’s. I don’t cut myself deliberately for that purpose, but yeah, a paper cut doesn’t taste bad. ---

[/QUOTE] Er, **nice** Chianti, surely? Re the OP, I also find my blood has a metallic, rubbed-penny flavour to it. However it is neither sweet nor pleasant. IIWY I’d get my blood sugar checked out. And seek out a local chapter of Vampires Anonymous. ---

A small cut is fine, no problem with the blood. But if you’ve ever had one of those annoying ones that just won’t stop bleeding, bleh. It’s gross to have too much blood in your mouth. ---

I don’t mind sucking on a paper cut, but I wouldn’t say I enjoyed the taste. And I’ve never ever been tempted to spike a unit of blood to take a sip, no sirree. and I’ve never looked at the test tubes as little lavender-capped shooters. Working with blood. Cooked blood, in things like kishka or duck blood soup, is good. Can’t say I’d care to drink a glass raw, though. ---
