Does anyone else find repeated screaming sounds in a song really annoying?

You guys should check out Merzbow. You’d love him.

There is a band called “A Wilhelm Scream.” No idea if they use it at all.

“Jump Around” doesn’t bother me, obviously not human noise either. Neither does the “hoo-hoo” or squawking in “Sympathy for the Devil,” although these are repetitive. I have no clue about who Robin Thicke is, but as of ~15 minutes ago, an ad on my Kindle showed me that Robin is a guy, so I have that going.

Hard to describe: I hate that wooshy club sound in some dance songs. Like if you’re walking past a club, someone opens the front door and the music comes out clear, but as soon as the door closes it becomes muted and attenuated. People use that for an effect sometimes, and it sucks; thankfully most of these songs can’t get much worse.

He’s nothing to scream about that’s for sure.

The first time I heard Hungry Like The Wolf I thought someone was being raped on our driveway.

I think that effect is called a lowpass filter; you muffled the higher frequencies while leaving the lower frequencies alone and it sounds like it’s coming through wall. Definitely overused.

Yes definitely. “Finally free” by Dream Theater is one of by favourite songs ever, but I absolutely hate the sampled screaming and gunshots that appear about midway. Back in the day when I got to that section of the song I’d either momentarily flick the volume down, or hit skip (fast forward a few seconds) on the cd player.

FWIW, I can’t stand “Sympathy for the Devil” because of that repeated noise in the background.

Though at least it’s not screaming, I suppose.

Death metal growl = every single one of my daughter’s songs on her iPod.

I enjoy a good screamer.

Is that the thump thump thump thing on Bulletproof? God, I hate that. I mean, what kills me is the volume amp thumps and makes my head hurt. I can’t stand that.

Audioslave - Shadow on the Sun - great song, ruined by the screaming starting at about the 5:00 mark.

What? I thought all girls loved long-haired bike couriers?

That’s hardly the most annoying thing about that song.

Yes, I’m resurrecting my own thread, which has been dead for a couple of days, just to say that I found a coverof “Blurred Lines,” without the annoying screaming sound, and I think it’s not bad. It’s not that bad of a song, and in this cover, I can actually concentrate on the music instead of my mind being able to focus only on the screaming.
