I hate the smell and taste of that re-labelled axel grease that is used as a butter substitute on popcorn in American cinemas. And unflavoured popcorn is about the most boring eddible substance known to mankind. But caramel popcorn made with real caramel (not artificial flavour caramel) is fantastic. ---

I don’t care for it. It get’s in your teeth, leaves your fingers greasy, and gives me the bubblies. ☹ Now Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Kool Aid, etc. I HATE! I will die of thirst before I drink one of those concoctions. Even as a child, people would make the biggest fuss because I just wanted a nice glass of room-temperature water. Hell, you’d think that would make a parent happy! 😛 ---

For him, it’s the carbonation that turns him off. “The bubbles burn my tongue,” he admitted, which sounds incredibly dorky. But hey, if he doesn’t like soda or beer, more power to him! I wish I didn’t like soda and beer so I wouldn’t drink them as often! (In fact, my brother is 23 and has never had a drink of alcohol in his life! But give him some Yoo-Hoo and he’ll chug that like a frat boy with his first keg!) ---

Popcorn. Ick. Smells like piss, tastes like… I don’t know. Tastes _bad_. It doesn’t help that my office is right next to the breakroom and some asshole always burns it in the microwave, thus sentencing me to several hours of fume-sucking. ---

I can take it or leave it (although I’ll always leave it when it’s got an overabundance of fake butter substance on it), but our dog hates popcorn. If you’re eating it, he always gets his hopes up, and he’ll sit and look very attentively at you. If you give him a kernel, he takes it very carefully, rolls it around in his mouth for a moment, then spits it out on the floor and looks at you as if to say, “No, what are you _really_ eating?” ---

I hate popcorn. The smell makes me gag. Sometimes it makes me have a coughing fit. The sorry excuse for butter that they use in movie theaters smells even worse. I also hate plain corn. It’s a useless pseudo-food that’s full of empty calories. I also hate potatoes- you can just taste the calories. The starchyness is overwhelming. Another unhealthy ‘natural’ food. IIRC it is among the most unhealthy things a human can eat, up there with soda and candy for pure glycemic index. I hate rice. The taste is fine, but the texture reminds me of throw-up on its way back up. Soft and mushy, with tiny pills of firmness…blech. String beans, olives, and liquorice all make me queasy as well. When I was younger, I used to have to eat in a seperate room when those were at the table, or risk throwing up. I wasn’t born this picky, according to my mom I was a very indiscriminate eater, eating many things that make me ill now, until I got very sick at about age 4. After that, many things made me want to be sick. I don’t remember this illness, but apparently I had to be put on a special diet for 6 months, where they tried to figure out what was making me ill. They never found out what it was. ---

I hate most food, including popcorn. One of the many reasons I hate going to the movies is because of that sickly smell of popcorn which I am forced to endure. ---

Another popcorn hater here. Actually I can tolerate the taste, unless it’s swimming in “butter” at the theatre. It’s the smell I can’t get past. GAG Was at a drum & bugle corps show last night and there was a kettle corn vendor set up under the stands. Every time they made a new batch (most of them burnt) the entire section was gagging. The show was still fantastic though. ---

Hate is such a strong word. I’ll simply say I have a strong dislike for it. I don’t mind the smell too much though, unless it’s burnt. The reaction I get from most people when I tell them I don’t like popcorn is akin to the reaction I’d get if I said I was a communist pedophile. Sheesh.
