My 5.5 month old grandniece. She was born in late May, so that was stressful for the parents (couldn’t have a doula as planned). She was sent home from daycare a week or so back because she had a fever; she got tested and it came back positive. My niece thinks that her husband and her older child (3 years old) may have had minor cases of it a few weeks earlier; they both had colds. Not sure what the impact is on the daycare; since that group of kids doesn’t crawl yet, they may not have had to shut the entire place down. Luckily, the baby seems to have gotten over it with no issues. The household is under quarantine, of course. ---

I know quite a few that have tested positive including both of my parents. Dad is in the ICU and Mom died last night. ---

A work friend told me that she and her husband are down with it. Her husband started a new job a week ago (Monday) at a small 20-person operation on a secured facility. By Wednesday he had full-blown Coronavirus symptoms and by the end of the week both were sick and testing positive. Sheesh. ---

I also have many friends who have had COVID. They said that the symptoms are like everyone elses: the lungs hurt, the smell and taste disappear. The rest say that if there is a problem with the lungs or you have diseased heart then its worth worring. Of course the best advice is to stay at home and not to go anywhere but unfortunately this is not possible.We just have to follow the basic quarantine rules…and of course no one is immune from anyrhing. But sometimes I think that some of us just got sick with coronavirus and no one even knew about it. ---

This past Monday evening, a very good friend of ours tested positive. He’s at elevated risk (late 50s, overweight, asthmatic), but he’s been working from home since March, and been diligently wearing a mask and distancing when he’d go out (mostly, shopping trips). But, his wife works at a trucking company, and has been going in to work all along – she thinks that she must have brought it home, and never developed symptoms herself. Anyway, he’s been feeling sick for 7 days now, but when he tested positive on Monday night, he was at the hospital where he works – they ran chest x-rays, and a CAT scan on his heart, and saw no issues with any of that, and they sent him home, where he’s been quarantined since. And, now, this evening, my mother has told me that my cousin, his wife, and their adult daughter all tested positive today. They live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, just over the border from Wisconsin. But, both my cousin and my wife, who I’ve discovered have gone whole-hog into Trumpland in the past few years, had spent the summer and fall complaining on Facebook about Gov. Whitmer, and closures, and mask mandates, insisting that it’s all overblown, and that masks don’t work. So, I suspect that they were doing nothing to prevent their own risk of getting infected. ☹ It makes me sad, because my cousin and I were best friends when we were growing up, but it seems like he’s gone completely around the bend recently. ---

My daughter is back at work today, after a second negative test. Two coworkers tested positive earlier this week and are in dorm room complete lockdown, with the University delivering meals, doing daily monitoring, &c. Her fiancé found out last night one of his favorite cousins is in serious condition down in Texas. He’s only 31, but is a fairly big guy with asthma. He was to have transferred hospitals this morning to one with better acute care, as his oxygen levels couldn’t be stabilized. ---
