# Does anyone know the name of this movie?

I am trying to find the name of a movie I saw a number of years ago. It was a french drama (in french with english subtitles) starring Gerard Depardieu. The movie is from the late 70’s to mid 80’s. It was about a young female teenager who becomes romantically involved with an older man. Someone her mom is also dating. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

I’m afraid I don’t know, although teenage girls going out with middle-aged men happens a lot in French movies, and it usually isn’t made to look seedy and sick as it invariably is in British or American films. I recommend _Noce Blanche_, starring Vanessa Paradis, circa 1987. She falls in love with her philosophy teacher, something which always seemed to happen when I was at school. I’m not sure why, as they’re usually sad middle-aged men who all think they’re Albert Camus.

It could be _[Mon père ce héros (1991)](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0102465)_ or its Hollywood remake _[My Father the Hero (1994)](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0110612)_, both starring Gerard Depardieu.
Although in these movies the girl only pretends to be dating the older man (Depardieu), he really is her father.

Thank you mkl12. Mon pere ce heros is indeed the movie I was looking for. Now does anyone know where I can buy the french version? Hopefully in NTSC (American format not PAL format) format?
