# Does anyone know what the turnout in 2020, 2022 or 2024 primary election was in NY-8 district?

New York’s 8th district is Hakeem Jeffries’ district. He won the general election in 2024 with 168k votes. He won the general election in 2022 with 99k votes. Turnout is always lower in midterms vs presidential years.

But I can’t find anything about the primary results in 2020, 2022 or 2024 for this district. Only the general election results. Did Jeffries run unopposed in the primary? What was his vote count in these 3 elections in the primary election?

Jeffries’ Wikipedia page notes that he faced no primary challenger in '20 or '24, and no “significant” primary challenger in '22.

It does not, however, have the exact vote totals for the primaries.

In 2024 and 2020, he was unopposed and the primary was skipped entirely.

[In 2022](https://www.vote.nyc/sites/default/files/pdf/election_results/2022/20220823Primary%20Election/01301800008Kings%20Democratic%20Representative%20in%20Congress%208th%20Congressional%20District%20Recap.pdf) (page 8), he received 23,145 votes. The other candidate on the ballot, Queen Johnson, received 3,402. There was a smattering of write in votes. The total number of ballots cast was 26,961.

Unless I missed something, his only other primary for his current office was when he ran for his first term, [in 2012](https://vote.nyc/sites/default/files/downloads/pdf/results/2012/FederalPrimary/1.13%20CROSSOVER%20DEM%20CONGRESS%20DISTRICT%208%20RECAP.pdf).
