Does anyone like hospital gowns?

The only time I was in hospital overnight, I took a dressing gown with me, and wore it over my hospital robe. That was acceptable. I think it would have been horrible otherwise.

We patients are grateful for your assistance in such matters. Recent hospital stays have been a learning experience for me.

One…they strip strip you off of perfectly good clothes. Using surgical scissors if necessary. There went my Carhartt winter gear.
Two…the gowns are thin, flimsy and not a fashion statement by any means.
Three…ICU rooms are cold. Recent self-research indicates it is to keep pathogens to a minimum. Patients are expected to just ask for more warm blankets.
Four…the scrubs they give upon discharge are made paper. Not very good for long in this mid-Michigan winter climate.

I am glad that the nurses and doctors literally saved my life, but standing outside the exit waiting for the taxi in a gown and paper scrubs scarred me for life.

So I vote NO to hospital gowns.
Thanks for letting me vent. PEACE.

Vent away~~that is a lousy deal. At least you should have been slipped a couple of flannel bath blankets to wrap up in. The hospitals around me have a stash of very generic sweat tops and pants they give out for people who need it for discharge. Boring, baggy, one size fits most in bland grey, but clothes.

Its’s a small town with a hospital that used to be vet hospital. If I were a horse…not complaining. As long as I keep breathing I am good to go.

At a former job, my co-worker was telling us about the great sale where she bought the new top she was wearing. My horrible boss said she should go to the sale and get some new pajamas for her boyfriend, because he wore hospital gowns to bed. :astonished: I had met her boyfriend, and I really didn’t need to know anything about any of that.
