# Does anyone like James Brown?

After the whitest of the white comment, I thought “Nuh-HUH! I live in the whitest state!” Turns out we’re both in undeniably the whitest state in the union.

When I was growing up, I didn’t listen to New Kids on the Block, I listened to my Greatest Hits of Motown record on my Fisher Price record player over and over again. I developed an affinity for Aretha Franklin, and that was the last straw. I was officially a freak.

Of course, I was dumbed a White Person with Soul by my Latina best friend in High School, so it was a badge of honor. And still is. The pasty-whites around here have no appreachiation for good ole’ fashioned funk/soul/motown. Feh.

SwimmingRiddles, you are now my new personal hero. I also love Motown, especially Stevie Wonder and The Temptations. Pappa Was A Rolling Stone is one of the greatest songs ever. I now dub SwimmingRiddles Soul Brother #2.5
