If a person has a spastic disorder and cannot control the small buttons on an mp3 player does anyone manufacture a player that has larger buttons which are easier to manipulate? I have seen TV remotes and calculators that are like this, but can’t find an MP3 player.

Something like this, but for MP3s instead of TV remotes.

Google “large button mp3 player” and there are some options.

Also, from Yahoo Answers, of all places:

Many ATA center (that’s Alliance for Technology Access) modify toys, and other devices so that they are accessible by a switch.. a large button in your case. Often the adaptations are free but some centers charge a small fee for supplies and/or staff time.

I did, but I can’t find any. I can easily find TV remotes that have huge buttons but not MP3 players.

The only one I have found is called the colossal MP3 player.

However I called the local walgreens and they said they are more of a holiday item and only in stock in fall and winter. But when they are, they can be had for $5-10.

I saw that one clearanced in Walgreens over a year ago. I haven’t seen a large one other than that in a store.

How large do the buttons need to be? Is something with smaller buttons like an inch in size going to work? That other player seemed more like a novelty item when I saw it. It really is gigantic.

That is pretty cool. The woman in question has MS, and I’m not sure how that affects your voice. But voice control would be a good option. However I think that device only works on ipods, not on other players.

I mailed a friend of the family, who has early-onset Parkinson’s and trashed three iPods before turning thirty. She recommends HumanWare’s [Victor Reader ClassicX](http://www.humanware.com/en-europe/products/blindness/dtb_players/classic_models/_details/id_57/victor_reader_classicx.html). It’s a handful to learn and mostly designed to play audio books, but it works fine for MP3s as well. It’s CD only, though, which is a problem. (Though it takes MP3 file CDs)

ETA: The more compact VictorReader Stream-DAISY-MP3 ([here](http://www.humanware.com/en-europe/products/blindness/dtb_players/compact_models/_details/id_81/victorreader_stream_daisy_mp3.html)) can store information on SD cards, which is a bit more portable. The buttons are smaller though, but still pronounced and tactile.

Is your friend wheelchair bound? [Here’s an option](http://www.rjcooper.com/mp3-player/index.html) but it’s not like…super elegant. They may not be into the design if they want to use it walking around in public. I can see it being more useful for wheelchair-bound people. But it’s a totally cool idea!

There’s also [this](http://www.rjcooper.com/ipod/index.html) from the same site, but it doesn’t seem very portable. Also only works with an iPod.

The guy has a lot of “assistive technology” on his [site](http://www.rjcooper.com/index.html). Might find something else useful there.

I found the [SanDisk Sansa e130](http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Sansa-Digital-Player-Expansion/dp/B00083XXQM). You can find some reviews in CNET talking about its large buttons and ease of use.

Here’s an [odd player](http://www.emixt.com/1gb-big-button-mp3-player-with-outer-speaker.html)with dials and a built in speaker, but under $15.

I thought a kids mp3 player would possibly fit the need. I didn’t find one. I was waiting on input from Wesley Clark before looking further. The maximum price would be helpful too.

Is there something wrong with the one I linked to above on eBay, _the exact model_ you requested???
