I’m surprised no one has mentioned flies as vectors of serious disease. Flies are on shit like white on rice. Hygiene and sanitation are the keys to keeping all those nasties at bay. If for some reason it can’t be bagged at least cover it over with soil. Naked turds are not cool.
I was just musing that dog shit is far less common now, AFAICT, than when I was a lad. Dogs are mostly not allowed to run around the neighborhood any more, and the clean-up ethos is pretty strong, or so it seems. Nothing sucks like stepping in dog shit.
What does squirrel shit look like? Rat droppings, or bulkier? We get these small turds in the yard–smaller than a cat’s, and they always look like they have tiny seeds in them. I assume they are from raccoons, because we have them and I wasn’t familiar with the type before we got this house.
