She sings catchy songs with no lyrical depth and half-nakedly gyrates while doing so. She could release another album anytime in the next few years and have it sell very well, I’ve no doubt. I think she could have a career as long as she wants one; if not, she’s got her millions to fall back on. Unless crappy pop completely gives way to crappy rap “music”, there will be a place for her. And there hasn’t been a tell-all nor a naked hitchhiking book, so I’d assume there’s more Britney in our future. ---

Christina famously declared that Britney’s career was over because she’d let herself go and become a big fat-ass. Me, I think celebrities can afford the stuff needed to get back into shape and celebrities often have comebacks, though it’s hard to see Britney as coming back anywhere near to where she was before, what with so many younger boobjobs ready to take her place. And as for Christina… well she just got married. Let’s see if her figure survives squirting out some random dude’s babies. ---

Two words… Trim-spa, baby! I don’t know about the career. My guess is that she’s so rich, she doesn’t have a need to rush back. And the truth is, she does need to re-invent herself. Madonna is the only one who consistantly did it over decades. Ashlee Simpson is living proof that anyone can be big with the right marketing machine. She’s not very pretty, she can’t sing, and yet she’s everywhere. She truly fascinates me. At least Britney was fun to look at for a while. And even if she never sang in concert, she did a full-blown aerobics workout in a bikink. Not too bad. Christina has an amazing set of pipes… she unfortunately is a psychological train wreck who was linked with Britney because of age and the new Mickey Mouse. Club. She seemed to be pissed that no matter how good of a singer she is/was, Britney was still getting teenage girls to buy her records and teenage boys to buy her posters. Talent, it seems, isn’t the only thing desired by the trailer park set. But I saw her on an awards show (Grammy’s?), no music, no lip-syncing… and she belted out a tune that made my head turn. Toward the TV, that is. If she doesn’t go the way of the child-tv actor, she may have a chance at a real career. ---

I think her shelf life as a popstrel is basically over. Playboy is in her future. As for Christina having a great singing voice…it is when compared to Spears but otherwise it is no better than anything you could find in a decent church choir. She’s marginally attractive and with even less charisma than Spears. Let’s hope they all go away. Soon. ---

Britney is one in a continuing series of manufactured pop star “products”. Does she still have a career? Well, from what I’ve seen over the last 4+ years, she has an army of publicists who make sure she is in the news almost daily, regardless of anything artistically notable that she’s ever done. At this point, she’s famous for whatever the PR people can keep her in the news for, regardless of whether or not she actually is shoved into a recording studio or put onto a stage to dance around and do what manufactured pop star products do. I’m sure that eventually she’s disappear completely into the background showing up now and again as hasbeens and neverweres do. ---

Christina hasn’t had a tabloid career, she just married a rather nice young man at a tasteful, not fame-whorey wedding, and seems to be doing well. As for Britney, did anyone watch _Chaotic_? That pretty much says it all. “They look like boobs, but they’re ma knees, y’all!” ---

She’s not the first. Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) has managed exactly the same feat since the demise of the Spice Girls eight or so years ago. Without hyperbole I swear that not a month goes by without her appearing on the cover of _Heat_ magazine, despite not only not having done anything substantive muscially but also not even living in the the UK for the past few years.
