To my surprise, there is an herbal, over the counter “remedy” for Premature Ejaculation that is _oral_, not topical. Any men try this? How could herbs change how sensitive nerve endings are? Amazon reviews were few and lacked credibility. (Most 5 or 1 star reviews by people who only reviewed that one product and nothing else and didn’t buy it from Amazon). ---

Yea…no. Sorry, this sounds like just taking advantage of the FDA’s lax laws regarding anything calling itself an ‘herbal supplement’. ---

It’s got passionflower in it, which is both used traditionally and bears out clinically as an anxiolytic, meaning it calms you down and makes you less anxious. It also has a West African herb in it that I’m not familiar with (Griffonia simplicifolia) which is purported to be a source of 5-HTP, a chemical used by the body to make serotonin. They have some theory about dopamine and seratonin levels as they relate to the ability to maintain an erection, but that’s outside the herbal scope and something I don’t know anything about. However, as an herbalist myself, I can fairly confidently say that the quantities in a recommended dose are nowhere near therapeutic. Even if these plants worked to do what they claim, they wouldn’t do it at these levels. The other ingredients are a couple of B Vitamins. Their literature doesn’t suggest a reason for them to be in there at all, and I certainly can’t think of one. If you are anxious and you can’t maintain an erection because of it, I’d suggest having a nice cup of passionflower herb tea about 30 minutes before sexy time instead. Much cheaper. ---

SSRIs can be used to prevent premature ejaculation, but last I heard pharma companies were still working out the kinks in type and dosing. I don’t know the history of SSRIs. It’s possible that there are similar chemicals in plants, but my bet is that these products are bogus. ---

There are a ton of drugs that effect the ability to reach orgasm, thing is most are also psychoactive or have side effects so you wouldn’t want to take them something as minor as PE. ---
