# Does every star visible with the naked eye have an accepted name?

While on a cruise in the Med, on a clear moonless night, they turned all but the navigation lights off for us at around midnight. I can’t believe that there were only 3,000 stars. It was pretty humbling I found, to realise how insignificant our little planet orbiting a minor star is.
