Sorry; I didn’t intend to come off as accusitive. If the mods don’t have a problem with your question then I really don’t either, and as the responses have all been some variation on, “What a really dumb thing your friend is doing to herself,” I don’t see any harm done. I’m just a little surprised that other threads have been shut down for asking pretty innoculous medical-related questions.

Anyway, good luck to you with the friend. As others have said, if you can’t get her to visit a doctor at least try to get her down to Planned Parenthood and talk with a counselor or somesuch, or check out the relevent chapters of Our Bodies, Ourselves. Anything but the hypertoxification/toxic shock-induced miscarriage/gut punch method of “alternative” abortion.

I’m sorry for being so defensive. It’s just that I know that no matter how well one articulates oneself, their words are always open to individual interpretation by the reader. While you might not have been accusitory, someone else could become so. I just wanted to make myself clearer, to try to prevent that from happening. Eh. According to some sources, that’s fairly rare. More likely a stress midcycle caused her to ovulate late, thus making her period come later than expected.

Of course, is she’s 4 weeks late, then uh, that’s a whole 'another ball of wax.

My guess as to why this thread is still open is because the OP is asking, “Does this home abortion method work?”, not, “How can my friend induce an abortion at home?” Big difference there.

Like I said, this isn’t the first time she’s pulled this kind of thing. She was severly hooked on “natural” stimulants, in the past, primarily ephedra. She has this hairbrained notion that if it’s “natural” it can’t possibly harm you. :rolleyes:

When she was on the herbal stimulants, she was always complaining of health problems, e.g. hair loss, stomach problems, but wouldn’t accept that it was likely caused by what she was using on herself.

Point out to her that snake venom, poison ivy, and hemlock are all “natural.”

Is it possible you could send her URL of this thread?
