This is not an opinion question. I am looking for facts about life on a Kibbutz. Kibbutzes are supposed places of true communal living where all do for the community without need for money. Does this work 100%? Are they really 100% self-sufficient, including today’s expectations when it comes to modern medical practices? (If you can, please indicate how timely your knowledge or experience is.) ---

Unfortunately Jinx has a very limited internet without Google or Wikipedia, in fact it seems the SDMB is about the only place to bring his never-before-asked questions.
