There was a quote in a [pit thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=154372&perpage=50&pagenumber=2) that asserted that PETA at one point killed a majority of animals given to their care and suggesting that they still do. Did they? Do they still?
