Ok I hate to admit it I watched Josey and the Pussycats last night. Hey a couple of the chicks were pretty goodlooking so leave me alone. Anyway the oh I forgot ::possible spoilers:: The plot of the movie is how the record companies and the govt use subliminal advertising messages in rock music and movies. So I was wondering does it(subliminal advertising) really work on its targets? I mean could the govt or media be brainwashing us right now? I mean maybe even Cecil’s cite every once a while flashes "Buy a Coke NOW!? Well what do you think? I’ll read your answers in a minute for some reason I have to go get a Coke. ---

Apparently not. We’ve had a flash applet periodically and surreptitiously telling people to ["read Cecil’s column](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a1_187.html) for a year now, and it hasn’t done a lick of good. ---

Its illegal in most countries I know of. …although you probably got that from the movie, when the bad guys were inevitably arrested at the end. ---
