# Does the quote function sometimes not work for you?

Occasionally there will be a post that, for some reason, shows a blank reply box when you attempt to quote a poster. In making [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=20120529&postcount=47) reply just now I had that problem so I hit “quote” for the post above it and copied the information from the post I wanted to quote (which is what I usually do when this happens) but messed it up a little. When I went to edit it, it gives a blank box for editing, too.

Yes, that happens to me sometimes. I’ll then copy and paste the text I wanted to quote, and gripe that the quote function isn’t working. I have no idea if the fault is my computer, my browser, this site or what.

I’ve never had a problem with quotes, but others have reported the same problem in the past so you’re not alone. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten to the bottom of what exactly causes it to happen.

For what it’s worth, I run an ad blocker and a script blocker. I have no idea if that affects the problem or not.
