Based on my TV schedule on Dish Network, it looks like the World Cup just… begins, with Brazil vs. Croatia. No hullaballoo beyond the routine pre-game flag-waving and whatnot. ---

There’s no opening ceremony like the Olympics with a parade of nations, musical performances, and fireworks display. Before each game, you’ll see both teams come onto the field with their respective flags, the anthems will be performed and then the game will begin. ---

I stand corrected. I was correct that there’s not a separate night dedicated to Opening Ceremonies and a parade of nations,but there is the musical performance and ceremonies mentioned in the link above. ---
