He’s a registered member of the Casino tribe. Most people don’t realize that Casino (originally Oka Seenoh) is a Native American word meaning “house of gambling”.

> What drove Rachel Dolezal to claim to be black?
> What drove Bruce Jenner to claim to be a woman?
> What drove Elizabeth Warren to claim to be Native American?
> Is it some sort of deeply rooted psychological issue? If so, should they seek psychiatric help?

Those three examples are all wildly different. And all three are easily answered, at least in their own words (Caitlyn Jenner, for example, is a woman, not “claiming to be something she isn’t”).

If you claim not to be a troll, despite the evidence, do you need psychiatric help? Or are you just being an asshole? Mysteries abound.

> Additionaly, if there’s any evidence that Trump claimed to belong to a non-white etnicity ( for example, if he claimed to be an African), should Elizabeth Warren call him Kunta Kentei?

“Ethnicity.” “Kunta Kinte.”

And also, of course she shouldn’t.

And also, your “point” is insipid, irrelevant, and inane.

If she has some NA ancestry, she might be just on the edge of resolution of the test, but it would be a pretty good data point.

> It’s well known, and noted in _The Atlantic_ link provided by **Colibri** , that the two most likely “family legends” to be false are: NA ancestry and Name Changed at Ellis Island. Having read quite a bit about the subject, I’m always skeptical of claims of NA ancestry without hard evidence. It’s not anyone’s fault, because we all tend to believe what we want to believe.
> Agreed, mostly. I wouldn’t call it an ethnic slur-- it’s more like me calling you “Joe Namath” if you claimbed you used to play professional football. He’s not disparaging NAs, he’s disparaging someone claiming to be NA who he thinks is not.

I agree with your overall point, but I’ve been researching my ancestry, and I found my grandfather’s Ellis Island record with a different version of his name. I’d looked for him a number of years ago (because I wasn’t sure if he had come through Ellis Island or not) and I didn’t find him doing a search by name.

More recently, I looked through their records using the name of the ship he came over in (I knew it because my sister was named after the ship), found its arrival on the day before his official immigration record date, and browsed through the passenger list. And I found him. Eight letters in his entire name, and they got two of them wrong. Heh. But he didn’t keep the misspelled version, so your point is still right.

Just to be clear, my point wasn’t that it never happened, just that it, and NA ancestry, is the most likely thing about “family lore” to be wrong.

He probably called her “Pocohontas” because it fits the cliche: that somebody falsely claiming to have Native American ancestry will usually claim to be descended from an “Indian princess.”

More likely, it’s the only NA female name he knew. Surprised he didn’t call her a squaw.

Name 5 famous Native American women. Once you get past Pocahontas and Sacagawea, most of us draw a blank. Warren has been often dubbed “Fauxcahontas” by her detractors.

Yeah, this.

Of course, if I had liven in 1880s Oklahoma, I would DEFINITELY have boinked Cherokee chicks. (After chocolates and flowers and several fancy dinners, certainly. I am a gentleman.)

>
> As well, a large number of Cherokee ended up in Arkansas, for instance. Also, quite a few never left Georgia and Tennessee. Known as the “forest Cherokee”, they rejected the “white” ways of other Cherokee, warning darkly that the white man would betray them. For the most part, the removed Cherokee had something worth stealing.

> Bottommost line being, it would not be surprising if someone who legitimately had such ancestry would be entirely unable to prove it. Mostly, point of fact. My father’s family name is listed on the “Trail of Tears” documentation, but there are any number of people with that same last name who are not at all Cherokee.

Her family tree was “did” by a blogger and it shows no NA heritage [Thoughts from Polly's Granddaughter: Elizabeth Warren Information](http://www.pollysgranddaughter.com/p/elizabeth-warren-information.html) scroll down to find 5 links from start to finish on her genealogy with various documentations.

C’mon, don’t be a silly goose 🙂 Bruce even won men’s Olympic gold medal, and you don’t see him in any hurry to return it or anyone demanding him to do so, which surely would have been the case, if he was a woman. The dude’s just confused or, more likely, just yanking your chain.
