Does unrevealed Catholic Church "secret biblical knowledge about Jesus really exist?

Burn the heretic!

Regards,
Shodan

But isn’t this a reference to “indulgences” which used to be in existence in the Catholic Church? Not that it was repressed or hidden. Just removed as an unsuitable practice. Am I remembering wrong?

Mary got the blue clothes after she was assumed into Heaven…

What, you didn’t know St. Peter was married? There is an account in one of the Gospels of Jesus healing his mother in law, and one of the Pauline epistles makes reference to Peter having a wife.

OK, where did I put my concordance?

I’ll be back to this thread a bit later with chapter and verse.

What, you didn’t think Catholics read the Bible?

Oh, and if you want to talk about “secret Biblical knowledge”, let’s talk about the fact that the Bibles used by the Protestant denominations have seven books removed from the Old Testament because they contained Scriptural backing for some doctrines that Martin Luther wanted to eliminate.

Probably, except an indulgence isn’t redemption from sin (that’s penance) and the Church still hands them out.

More info here.

Luther decided he didn’t need Wisdom.

To the extent that members of the clergy accepted (or, worse, solicited) money for indulgences, they were engaged in the sin of Simony. That was never an official Church practice (however widespread it may have been). And the abuses involved in the sale of indulgences occurred more than 1100 years after the claims for the suppression of reincarnation lodged by the childpastlives web site.

As for what indulgences actually are or are not, see the link provided by Neurotik, above, or the Catechism link I provided at my last shot at the issue in this thread with my further attempt to explain it later in the same thread.

Only when it comes to religion does change take on a different meaning. If Microsoft changed some standards and dropped some policies, it is called improvement. When the Catholic Church make changes, it doesn’t mean that what went on before was faulty. It just means that either through divine inspiration or even practicality, these changes were desireable. No conspiracy, no wrong-doing. I have never heard the church claim to be perfect. There definitely are some skeletons in the closet, but they’re not hidden; just obsolete.

Did we not?

::vibrotronica checks the list::

Hmm, I guess you’re right. An oversight. Sorry 'bout that.

What have you Papists done with the aliens!?

What have you Papists done with the aliens!?

They’re hidden under the obelisk at St. Peter’s square, and, BTW (and I hope I don’t get excommunicated for this) Area 51 is actually a Cathedral run by Opus Dei AND Jesuits

It’s not on their website yet, but according to the December 30 Weekly World News (headline: “BIGFOOT SHOT BY MONTANA POLICE”), the Pope has just OK’d the first Space Alien priest.

Probably a Jesuit.

Sounds like some semi-respectable publications want attention and are emulating the tabloids.

The atom bomb was probably the best kept secret of modern times and yet many of the semi-technical, technical, and scientific employees who were not ‘cleared’ (approved) to know knew many things they were not authoriazed to know.

If I share a secret with you it is no longer a secret.

“Beware of the Cog”

Speaking as an atheist living in the Bible Belt, I would like to say that if there is some unrevealed knowledge about Jesus I hope it stays that way, because you can’t shut the religious yarps up about the guy now. It’s all Jesus this and Jesus that like the Bible was all first person POV based on Jesus. Give 'em something new to chew on and the volume’ll double.

I find it hard to believe, given the amount of Jesus babble going on, that there is any tiniest shred of knowledge about Jesus that hasn’t been done to death.
