I’m not talking about the occasional melody you may hear as part of a song but the tuneless whistling habit done by those around you. You know the kind…the ones who are so happy they want to share it with the world in the form of tuneless tortures. Please…is there any other way to express this happiness instead of in the form that you have chosen?? What’s your take? ---

I hate it. But only because I have never been able to learn how to whistle. I think that the whistlers are mocking me. ---

The guy sitting next to me right now is a whistler. I’d _love_ to shove a flaming concrete bulls cock down his throat daily. ---

I hate it. It’s always these old men doing it at the pharmacy. You’re stuck in line, as if that’s not frustrating enough, and some old timer is whistling. Ack. ---

There’s a local watch repair shop and the guy that runs/owns it has signs all over the place. Things like “unruly children will be deep fried and eaten”, “whistlers will be charged double”. I assume he’s a really good repairman cause he’s a major, major asshole. It only bothers me if I’m working or it’s _really, really_ bad. ---

Ugh. I used to live in California, and I had an hour-long commute by bus each morning with a tuneless whistler on board. An _exceptionally_ tuneless whistler. One by one, the regulars on the bus bought walkmans to drown him out. So eventually, the old fella had a bunch of discordant, thumping, tinny bass beats from all of our walkmans to tweetle amongst. It’s amazing that the bus driver didn’t end up certifiably insane. 😉 ---

Oh, god. :eek: I once spent two weeks walking around Manhattan with a friend who not only did that all the time. He did it two steps behind me as he was totally clueless as to his whereabouts and I am a compulsive map reader. ---

I hate the extremely loud whislers at public sports venues, and people who have whistling noses but they don’t know it. ---

I hate it too. I hate any unneccessary noises in public though. Nah, I hate all unneccessary noise anywhere, ever. That’s more accurate. ---

Whistling bothers me… A LOT. I can’t whistle. That’s not the reason I hate those who whistle. It is that I can’t understand how somebody could get so much enjoyment out of just blowing through their lips… the same two notes over and over. **THAT** is what bothers me. ---

YES!!! I hate it when people are incessently whistling. At the supermarket I shop at, there’s this employee who stocks the meat department. He’s always smiling, always says ‘hello’ to everyone who passes, has a nice word for everyone… just the nicest, friendliest guy in the world. And he’s constantly whistling. Always. Whistling an insanely happy random tune. It drives me crazy. And I feel bad about it, because he’s SO nice, and I know he’s whistling because he’s genuinely happy, so I hate being so annoyed by it, but I can’t help it. I always hurry past him and try to only shop for meat when he’s not around. The whistler. My name is Anamorphic. And I’m prejudiced against whistlers. ---

Even whistlers who can hold a tune are annoying at best. The tuneless ones are downright evil. ---

Okay I guess I am going to get flogged for this one-I love to whistle. It doesn’t bother me, but then again I am the one doing it. People do make comments-If I wanted to work in a pet store I would have got a job there. I stop if I know I am getting on someones nerves or someone expresses their wishes not to hear it. I don’t do it to irritate, I guess just out of habit. When I am happy I whistle while I work. ---
