I’ve just had a vague memory and wonder if anyone could refer me to YouTube or suchlike. Sometime in the early 90s (or possibly late 80s), in the United States, there were two or three cartoons, I believe in black and white line drawings, about a family dog. They were played before movies. I particularly remember a scene in which the dog is being fed, and the wet dog food sloooooowly… sluuuuuurps… out… of… the… can, then holds the cylindrical shape when it lands in the dog’s food dish. They were funny & sad at the same time. Does anyone know what they were and how to find them again? ---

Sounds like that show, yes. It bombed… pretty much because the public decided that tormenting a poor little dog just wasn’t funny. ---

The scene with the dog food was in the original _Family Dog_, which was an episode of _Amazing Stories_. ---

Yep, that’s the [Family Dog](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Dog_%28TV_series%29). The scene you described is from the original episode that was part of the Spielberg series _Amazing Stories_. The original episode was absolutely hilarious and far superior to the series, which had all different voice actors as well as lower quality animation and writing. It was turned into a series in the wake of the Simpsons success, when every network suddenly decided that they needed some primetime animated shows of their own. The episode was released on videotape along with another Amazing Stories episode. ---

[/QUOTE] In addition, the follow-up series was available on home video-- there’s a laserdisc box set, and I seem to recall a low-quality VHS box set. I’d never caught the series, but had enjoyed the Amazing Stories episode, so when I found the LD box set for $4 during the LD blow out of the late 90’s, I picked it up. It’s… pretty crude. Both in quality and in humor. Not bad for $4, but I’m not sure I’d pay much more than that… ---

For some reason I think those were attached as animated shorts to Honey I shrunk the Kids or something like that. ---

I know the cartoon described in the OP, but I couldn’t remember exactly what it was. All I know is that I watched it a million times as a kid, which would suggest that it was on a VHS tape before some other movie. ---

Speaking of dog cartoons from the early '90s, I miss **Two Stupid Dogs**. They were great.
