# Dogs Walking: Cecil Didn't Know This?

In this link [http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4\_090.html](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_090.html) to a question on how some dogs legs move together whie other dogs alternate, Uncle Cecil admits he was SURPRISED to find out there really is an explanation for this??? Uncle Cecil!!! How could you openly admit you were surprised to find this out?

This is well known amongst people who work with horses! Or, people who just like to horse around! 😃 I am amazed the great one begins his answer with “you won’t believe this, but…” :o Shame, shame, shame Uncle Cecil! Your elves didn’t do their homework very well to realize how well known this is!

Make your elves work harder Uncle! 😉

More daft than I am, obviously. The article was from the 1990’s, and I knew the answer since the 1970’s, when I was in kidergarten.

What this also means is that Cecil has never read the classic short story “The Pacing Goose” by Jessamyn West. That shocks me to the core.

The collumn doesn’t really answer the question of _why_.
