# Doing my part to protect innocents from the -gry question

Overheard in a cubicle today:

(Three copywriters talking)

Copywriter 1: “There are three words in the English language that end in -gry…”

Copywriter 2: “Angry”

Copywriter 3: “Hungry”

Me: “Y’all have been hanging out on the Straight Dope Message Boards, haven’t you?”

Copywriter 1: “No. What’s the Strayed Dope Massage Boards?”

Me: “Er- nothing. Pretend I didn’t say anything.”

There are three, actually. “Gry” is a unit of measurement. The others are alternate spellings of aggree and puggree (spelled aggry and puggry).

I let them stew in their ignorance. Two reasons:

1. If I educated the masses, then my job security would be threatened.

2. Pure sadism.

Can you really blame me, though?

C’mon. Vote for me and Shirley. You know you want to.

I always thought this was a joke question.

“There are three words in the English Language that end in -GRY. Angry is one, hungry is the other. What’s the third word? If you listened closely you heard me say it”

The answer? three. (the ‘third word’ in the statement).

Kind of like 'Lactomangulation. Spell it"
