> As for why isn’t MSNBC promoting them? I dunno, ask them. I guess they, being a liberal ‘news’ station, want more government, and the tea party people want less?

The politicians aren’t leveraging the crazies’ emotions for their own ends…they’ve created those emotions for their own ends. The “Tea Party” (hardly a grassroots movement) and the Republicans have blatantly lied and cynically insinuated all number of things in order to foment the rage that they are hoping will benefit them at the ballot box. The “perspective” that the bill was “rammed down their throat” or that this was a deal done in the back rooms or any of the other lies that are being spread did not spring organically from reality - they’re “perspectives” that have been sold to people by the right wing. And, if all the rage the conservatives in charge have been stirring ends up in a few lefties getting killed? Oh well, who gives a shit, right? They’re all a bunch of whiners and “victims” anyway.

I wonder what will happen when one of these dipshit window lickers from the Neocon or Tea Bag movement actually kills or hurts someone.

It may well be time for us sane people to start packing heat.
If anyone’s going to die over this Republican hooliganism, we owe it to the nation to be certain it’s hooligan.

> **Marley** , surely you don’t think that this bill was uncontroversial, do you? I don’t know what circles you run in, but out where I am, people think that this was a screwjob of the highest order. They think that it will interfere with their relationship with their doctor (probably true) and will bankrupt the country (almost certainly true).
>
> From their perspective, and the perspective of a plurality of Americans, this bill _was_ rammed down their throats. And the GOP was powerless to stop it, so they feel frustrated, and that frustration needs to come out somewhere. One place will be at the ballot box in November, as the right will be about as highly motivated as I think they’ve ever been.
>
> So, to answer your question, no the phenomenon did not start this past week, it’s been building for awhile (birthers, tea party rallies, etc). But this bill’s passage, which in many’s eyes stinks to high heaven, was the straw breaking the camel’s back.

My “rant” was this…
During the last administration, how many things were “rammed through”, and the Right supported all of it? The Dems either did not, or could not oppose much of it. But that was OK. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and it’s not OK?

Take your head out of your ass.

I’m going to ignore this question except to tell you that it’s fucking stupid.

Oh, well, screw the facts- if they think it was rammed down their throats, it must’ve happened that way.

Sounds like some of them don’t want to wait that long.

Now, maybe, we are getting somewhere. The birthers got going in 2008, which was before Obama was elected, much less the health care bill. While they are upset about the health care bill, they were worked up long before that. why did this start building? The answer is not the health care bill (that came later), and it’s not taxes (most people got a tax cut last year), and it’s not big government (because these people weren’t threatening to shoot people between 2001 and 2008) when, say, the Department of Homeland Security was created. So you tell me: why did this start building, and why does it keep getting bigger?

Nothing was rammed down anyone’s throats, any more so than any other legislation that has ever been passed. It was debated endlessly, by politicians and by the press.
The Democrats are in the majority in both houses, and the GOP as the minority party chose to not participate in an adult fashion in many ways.

I don’t think you know what the word plurality means. It does not mean a few tea-party brainless retards who call into talk radio.

Sure they’re frustrated. Tough - that is the way the system works. I’m sure the Democrats were frustrated by many things the Republicans did when they held both houses. But there was no talk of bringing rifles to rallys, and there were not a whole lot of death threats against Republican senators and representatives.

It’s because he passed a health care bill. Do you know who else’s first priority was universal health care? _Hitler AND Stalin!_ After Hitler took power, the CommuNazi Party proposed a health care reform package that was so unsuccessful, they needed to invade Czechoslovakia so they could get enough funds to run the government option. That didn’t work, so he had to invade Poland, too. And after that the bill was still so unpopular he invaded France as a distraction. Then he and Stalin disagreed over whether or not the system should be single payer, so they went to war with each other. In the end, Hitler and Stalin’s health care reforms killed 100 million people. This is what the Tea Partiers are trying to prevent.

Not trying to be a buzzkill **Marley** , but someone will think that this is actual history. For real.

And you know what? They are probably from Texas where the rest of the fucking Neocon asshats are on the Board of Education changing history over who died at the Alamo. (whites only now, no brown folks died)

I was going to go with

And don’t forget the war in Iraq that Obama started. That cost a lot of lives and money.

It sounds like millions of people already do, but that’s what happens when you are stupid enough to trust Glenn Beck’s version of history. I said this a couple of months ago, but I’m sure Barack Obama is offend some people think his health care plan is a Nazi eugenics program- but the person who would be most offended is Hitler. The guy oversaw the murder of millions of people. Can you imagine how he’d react if he knew his attempted extermination of the Jews was being compared to an effort to extend health care to poor people?

“I can’t believe this shit! I wiped out most of Europe’s Jews, brought industrialized mass murder to a level even sickos couldn’t imagine, and took over most of the continent. I’ve been the fucking benchmark for maniacal evil for 60 years, but now they think I’m only as bad as a limited health care reform plan? This is such bullshit! They don’t respect us anymore. Amirite, Stalin?”
“Honestly, Adolf, I don’t care. I’m just glad that once a decade, we get a 30-second break from our punishment of performing mutual anilingus until the end of time. Fuck, it’s hot down here.”
“Word.”

Stop that right now.

I’m a boomer. I’m also a card carrying retired hippy, and life long liberal. I’ve done the marches, been doused with tear gas, washed down the street by fire hose, billy clubbed bloody, and arrested. In service of liberal ends like equality and social justice. Have you?

I frankly can’t believe that \*\*SA \*\*is only two years older than I am. His halcyon vision of the 50s and 60s contrasts strongly with my own. The current right wing insanity (meant in the quite literal sense of the word) is anathema to me.

Yeah. I was never a hippy, I was never a Bircher, or a teabagger, or any of that. And if that asshole had tried to run me off the road, I’d be on Cops right now.
