Dominos as family entertainment where you live?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. shuts mouth

OK, thanks for the clarification, much appreciated.

I vaguely recall playing dominoes as a kid with the family, as well as setting them up to be knocked down. I’ve long since forgotten the rules though.

Dominoes is fairly common in South Africa, but much more so in the black and coloured communities than in the white - in fact there is a Gamblers Anonymous advert on TV at the moment which features a man losing all his possessions in a game of dominoes.

We had a set of dominoes when I was a kid, but I don’t know if we ever played it. Maybe once.

Ours was a card-playing family. And the stereotypical old-folks’ game in our part of Canada was crokinole.

The only reason I want to learn how to play dominos.

I don’t even know the rules. we had them, but we only ever used them to set them up and tip them over.

I just read the wikipedia article on this game and it sounds unreal. there are multiple complicated bidding rounds, two pair is better than 3 of a kind, and signaling your hand to your partner is not only legal, it’s encouraged.

I used to play dominoes with my Grandma when I was a kid. But I don’t think I’ve played since the early 80’s or so. I do still have a set somewhere.
