I’m familiar with Imus’ public persona, but what was he like in real life? Was it any different than was portrayed on air? What was he like to work for? And what ever became of his wife and son? Did they stay out west or go back to Connecticut? And what became of his ranch in New Mexico?

So… I never read “Howard Stern’s Private Parts”, but in the movie, he apparently was a dick.

I remember a DJ-turned-talk-show guy here discussing how he tried to get Imus to participate in a documentary about rock. Imus not only turned him down without any discussion (it wasn’t a quibble about money or billing or anything) he pretty much mocked the guy’s career choice.
