How do you get it? What should you tell the hairstylist to do? None of them know who Don Johnson is. ---

How about finding an appropriate pic of him using Google Image Search, print it out and show it to them? ---

The picture is the only way to go. Back when Arnold was hot, I tried to get people to give me a Terminator haircut. I may as well have said Irving Thalberg. I finally got a profile picture. After they spent 20 minutes bing mystified by the picture, and another 20 laughing at me for trying to look like Arnold, I then had to go into a spiel of what the haircut was supposed to look like from the front! I don’t believe that people that do hair have any conception of who movie stars are, let alone their hair 20 years previous. So, get pics of front, side and back and make sure that they are in color against a contrasted background. Have a card printed up saying that you are a deaf mute, and show the pics to the stylist. Sorry I couldn’t do you better. hh ---

Inspired by the previous post, I would eschew the use of a picture in favour of a videotape or a DVD. Select a movie or TV programme with the Johnson style you favour and take it into the hairdresser. To be on the safe side you should consider taking a VCR or DVD player as well. I am totally in favour of the card/deaf mute stratagem so just stick the tape/DVD into the player and gesticulate wildly when Johnson appears. You can also watch the movie/TV programme while you are having your haircut , and point out potential differences between the Johnson style and whatever they are doing to replicate the desired coiffure. I think you will agree this plan is foolproof. ---

Or you could always use photoshop or some other image manipulation program to digitally cut Johnson’s hair and paste it onto a picture of your own head. Then, when you get to the hair salon, you could hand them the deaf-mute card, then hand them the photoshopped picture of you with Don Johnson’s hair, and point at it, then your own head, and smile with a big s\*\*t-eating grin. That would definitely work! ---

Here are three [video clips](http://www.wildhorse.com/MiamiVice/video/) from the Miami Vice period. Try the _In The Air Tonight Scene_ from the pilot. The front view and both profiles can be seen, although Johnson is in a car for most of the action and the wind seems to affect the styling. You don’t get a full view of the back of his hair. After the carefully thought out advice you have been given in this thread by your fellow posters, I fully expect you to post a photo for us so we can see the net effect of your restyled hair. Failure to do this will result in a curse being placed upon you, followed by instant baldness. ---
