_[The Daily Beast](http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/07/27/ex-wife-donald-trump-made-feel-violated-during-sex.html)_ and Gawkerhave accused Donald Trump of maritally raping Ivana in an incident that occurred in 1989. The accusation actually was first brought up in the book _[Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump](http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Tycoon-Lives-Donald-Trump/dp/0393030296/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438052373&sr=1-1&keywords=the+lost+tycoon+harry+hurt)_ by Harry Hurt III, published in 1993. When Daily Beast approached Trump for comment, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen not only threatened to sue Daily Beast and their reporter (despite the fact that they are only reporting what was already written in the book), but Cohen claimed that it is legally impossible to rape one’s spouse. ---

Both the Daily Beast and Gawker quite clearly state that he was not accused of rape. ---

this is the perfect media trap against Trump’s enemies. Some are gonna call him a rapist and it’s not gonna stick because frankly, calling him one as if he is Bill Cosby is false and dishonest. People will see thru it. This is the GOP’s fault. They coulda annointed Christie or Kasich (people who could actually have won) a while ago but they let the race become a clown car. ---

If your client is running for office and the issue of rape accusations come up, you have to come up with a better answer than explaining that because of a legal loophole what your client did can’t be legally defined as rape. ---

Sounds rather graphic to me, and also rather accurate to describe it as rape - even if she was later bullied into putting a disclaimer at the start of the book. ---
