Trump had a rally here in Reno a few days ago. My local NPR station gave a short, straightforward account of the rally but closed with this: “Trump mispronounced “Nevada” on several occasions, eliciting boos from the audience.” It’s a short “a”, like “cat in the hat”. Many outsiders try to give it a pseudo-Spanish “Ne-vaw-da”. ---

He may have disavowed P2025 (an orange-faced lie, but then “hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue), but he’s openly touting his plan for massive tariffs. John Micklethwait mentioned Smoot-Hawley, but it went so far over Trump’s head that it didn’t even stroke the guard hairs on his coiffure. For background, while the Crash of ‘29 was bad but recoverable, Smoot-Hawley destroyed any hope that the US and the world at large might correct their economies. The Nazis went from single to double digits in German elections, the Japanese moved from free trade with America to captured markets in China, etc. At least this time China can recoup some of the damage by making red ball caps “Make the Depression Great Again.” ---

Fox News packed today’s Trump town hall with magas and RNC delegates and edited sections of it where the people asking questions made this obvious.
